28:22

Yesterday I run in Downtown Miami in a company of 25000+ people. My time is 28:22, which is about the same as the last year (27:40) when the photograph was taken and at least 5 minutes better compared to 2004, first time I run the race. .

"Nash Chelovek v Maimi"

"Nash Chelovek v Miami" can be translated from Russian as "Our Man in Miami".
It is a heading of an article on my photography and other things just published in "Kazan" magazine. "Kazan" is a paper publication on art and culture; it is based in my native town of Kazan, Russia (Tatarstan province). Here is the link to the web version of the article:

Winwood in June

AR400-206-24pr1sm Winwood is a neighborhood just North of Overtown; colorful, strange and beautiful. It has Art and Fashion sub-districts. Out of two, I like the Fashion; primarily because of the people. It is full of small humble shops swarming with customers during the day, at the same time, it is still Winwood -- with all the colors (which I proudly ignore with my B&W setups) and all the murals/graffities...plus, of course, the famous signature of the place: the emptiness. I've been there last May with the folks from Miami Street Photography Club, had a chance to use my Bessa L and my Nikon F5; all in all the time well spent

"Streets of Downtown", pictures

The yesterday's event turned out great; the weather was nice, not too hot and it was windy which I like very much; I enjoyed shooting with you guys for good 3 hours. I brought my Pentax K200D with 20-30mm Tokina zoom, very unusual to me: I now shoot only B/W film and forgot when I used digital in the streets. That was a challenge! Colors jumped out of shadows, distracting my visual thinking -- I used not to think color and suddenly I should! Anyway, somehow I survived this and at the end switched to my trusted B/W setups with sigh of relief. Here is few more street pictures and then few more of you all, shooting and talking...enjoy:

Miami Camera Show 2012

Miami Camera Show 2012

I have been there again. Since I am in love with old cameras, I liked it. The parking was no problem, and the floor was not very crowded. It is once a year show, it is not widely advertised, so if you'd like to go next year, follow this blog, I'll try to keep you informed. See more photos from the event in this flickr gallery.

Annual Miami Camera Show 2012 is coming!

Miami Camera Show 2012 at Ramada Inn in Hialeah, FL. Street Photography by Emir Shabashvili, see http://street-foto.com, Miami,http://miamistreetphoto.com, http://miamistreetphotography.com or http://miamistreetphotographer.com

Miami Camera show. Strange place, big room full of dusty cameras and half-crazy camera freaks (just like me:-). If you like old cameras, you are going to love it. You can take photographs there, its ok, you can also bring you camera to trade (not very profitable) or buy something (usually ridiculously overpriced).

Here is my gallery from the last year's event.

The original pdf can be downloaded from here. Fill it, then print and you'll get $1 off the ticket at the door.

I am going. See you there!

Another Woman

Street scene reflected in store window in Miami Beach, Florida, USA, 2011. Street Photography of Miami, San Francisco and Key West by Emir Shabashvili, see http://street-foto.com, http://miamistreetphoto.com, http://miamistreetphotography.com or http://miamistreetphotographer.com

This image had been taken during the 2011 Miami Photo Walk on Lincoln Road in South Beach. The street scene is a reflection in "Victoria's Secret" store's window. This is digital, captured on Olympus Digital Pen EP1 camera with 17mm lens and processed in Photoshop to imitate a cross-type film development.
